Madison is seeing a record-breaking amount of snow. The Dane County Regional Airport on Saturday received over 12 inches of snow in a nine-hour period. That breaks the daily snowfall record for March set in 1971. It’s also rare for Madison to receive over a foot of snow in a 24-hour period, which hasn’t happened since 2012.

William “Sonny” Simon’s remains were brought home to Middleton Friday night, four months after the remains were accounted for overseas. Simon, born and raised in Middleton, was killed in action in November, 1944. He was only 20 years old. Police escorted the convoy carrying his remains past his childhood home. Funeral services are set for next week.
