Proud Parents Welcome Nest Egg

The first eggs of the season have been laid at the Oak Creek Power Plant in one of We Energies’ peregrine falcon nest boxes in Milwaukee. They belong to proud parents Michael and Essity, who have been nesting together for four years. The first chicks are expected to hatch in a little over a month from now. Milwaukee-based Marcus Theatres is offering a new program for moviegoers. Beginning today, Movie Tuesday will become Value Tuesday at all Marcus Theatres and Movie Taverns nationwide. Woman Arrested in Connection to Dead Infant

Police arrest the woman believed to be the mother of the baby that was found dead in a field in Whitewater.  Police say the 39-year-old woman was arrested Friday and charged with concealing the death of a child and obstructing an officer.  The woman could face more charges in the future.  She’s believed to be the mother of a newborn that was found dead on March 4th.

Shots Fired Outside Gentleman’s Club

An arrest is made after a shooting outside a Monroe County gentleman’s club.  The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to The Hunting Shack in Sparta early Sunday morning after someone was seen waving a gun in the air.  The sheriff’s office says the suspect fired several shots after being forced out of the club.  No one was hit and the suspect was later found and arrested after crashing their car in La Crosse County.

Flags Lowered in Honor of WWII Veteran

All flags in Wisconsin will be flown at half staff tomorrow in honor of a World War Two veteran whose remains were recently identified.  Governor Tony Everssays Private First Class William Simon was killed in Germany back in 1944 and now his remains are being returned to his hometown of Middleton.  He’ll be buried tomorrow with full military honors.

Underage Party Serves as Reminder

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:02 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a parking complaint on 26th Ave north of Cumberland. Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area and located a large party at a residence. As a result of the investigation 34 people, ages 17-20, were cited and referred to Prime for Life Class for underage drinking, 3 people were cited for underage drinking second offence and 1 person was cited for hosting/permitting

Eye Drops Recalled After Blindness, Death

The CDC says contaminated eye drops now recalled by the FDA have caused three deaths and blindness in at least eight people.   The CDC blames a bacteria known as  Pseudomonas for at least 68 recent eye drop contamination cases in 16 states, some of which have caused death, blindness and corneal infections that don’t respond to medication.  Some patients have even needed surgical removal of their eyeballs.  Dr. Omar Awad, a corneal transplant expert in Minnesota, says he’s concerned that many people will be afraid to

The Chippewa County Historical Society will bring back a local tradition this spring. The Past Passed Here, the society’s popular fur-trade and logging-era re-enactment is back on the calendar for the public, May 12-14, at Marshall Park in Chippewa Falls. Experience a wide variety of demonstrators including blacksmiths, cast-iron cooking, fiber art making, fur traders and wood carvers. Hands-on activities include archery, atlatl, cat and mouse balance game, canoe paddle race, flint and steel fire starting, lacrosse and tomahawk throwing.
