Mobile Clinics Set to Open

Nine mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics are opening around Wisconsin today. Students from the University of Wisconsin System and members of the National Guard will run the mobile vaccination sites. Governor Tony Evers says students will receive a 500-dollar tuition credit for helping out.

WI Sees Plump at the Pump

Gas prices are on the rise, according to Triple-A. The average price for a gallon of gas in Wisconsin is 2.22. The national average is two-thirty-eight. Eau Claire’s current average for a gallon of regular unleaded is 2.26. That’s up from a week ago, and 15-cents from a month ago.

Making a Valentines Day Splash

A Wisconsin pest company will name a cockroach after your ex for Valentine’s Day this year. J-and-R Aquatic Animal Rescue posted to Facebook saying they’ll name the cockroach after your ex for five-bucks and feed it to an animal during a live event on Valentine’s Day. They’re taking orders until 5 p.m., February 13th.

WI Girl to be Featured on National Stage

An eight-year-old Belleville girl will be featured at Wednesday’s presidential inauguration. Morgan Marsh-McGlone used an online lemonade stand to raise more than 50-thousand-dollars for a Fitchburg pay-what-you-can restaurant. According to the Biden Inaugural Committee, Marsh McGlone will speak on a pre-recorded video, featured among five-other ‘everyday Americans.’

WI Name Heads to D.C.

The top woman at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is about to become the number two at Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services. The Biden Administration yesterday said DHS secretary-designee Andrea Palm is joining the new team. Palm worked for the Obama Administration before coming to Wisconsin. She has her share of criticism here from some lawmakers and citizens who do not like how she’s handled the coronavirus outbreak.

WI Coronavirus Continues Downward Trend

Wisconsin’s coronavirus numbers have dropped again. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported just over a thousand new positives. Wisconsin’s seven-day positive average is now below eight-percent after it was over 11-percent at the beginning of the month. DHS says fewer than 900 people are hospitalized with the virus, that’s down more than 50 from just Sunday. New Plans for Old Abes

Parents will have the option to send their kids to Eau Claire Memorial next school year. The city’s school board last night approved an open enrollment plan. Eau Claire stopped open enrollment at Memorial in 2017 in an effort to balance enrollment at the city’s high schools. Wausau Goes Back to Taxpayers for Millions

School leaders in Wausau are trying again with a 150 million-dollar-plus ask from taxpayers. The city’s school board last night approved two questions for the spring ballot. One is a four million-dollar request to hire school counselors and social workers. The other question asks taxpayers for 148 million-dollars to build a new school and improve the district’s existing buildings. Voters in Wausau rejected the questions back in the fall.
