MANITOWOC FATHER FACING CHARGES OF KILLING CHILDREN

A Manitowoc father is in custody facing charges of killing his two children.  Matthew Beyer was booked into the Outagamie County Jail this morning with police recommending two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.  Beyer is accused killing his five-year-old son William and his three-year-old daughter Danielle in February.  Their bodies were found inside a duplex on Crooks Avenue but their manner of death has not been released.

MORE TO TAKE OFF THE CALENDAR

The coronavirus is forcing more cancellations of popular events in the Badger State.  The Wisconsin Valley Fair in Wausau was rescheduled for August of 2021 today.   Country Fest in Chippewa County is postponed until next year.  And officials in Greene County say that the County Fair is also canceled because of COVID-19 concerns.

GAS PRICES PLUMP AT PUMP

The cost of regular gas in Wisconsin is up two-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is a-dollar-91, while the national average is two-dollars.  Drivers in Eau Claire are paying one-94 for regular while in Fond du Lac and Janesville the price at the pump is a-dollar-79.  Nine cities have gas prices above a-dollar-90 including Madison, Milwaukee, La Crosse, Racine and Wausau.

NEW RICHMOND MAN SENTENCED FOR MURDER OF SON

On March 3, 2020, Kayle A. Fleischauer was found guilty by a jury of second-degree reckless homicide while armed for the killing of his adult son, Chase A. Fleischauer in the second trial of the matter. After the first conviction in 2019, the court found juror misconduct had occurred during the deliberations, declared a mistrial and the matter had to be retried. The trials were presided over by St. Croix County Judge Scott Needham. Today, Kayle was sentenced to 37 years imprisonment.

MAN DIES IN LAWNMOWER ACCIDENT

A lawnmower accident leaves a man dead. It was just before 9 on the night of June 3rd when the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a lawn mower accident west of Rice Lake. Initial investigation shows Otis Via, 78, was mowing his ditch when he lost control of the mower and it rolled over on top of him. Mr. Via was deceased at the scene.

A rainbow will be flying over our Capitol. Governor Tony Evers has ordered that the Rainbow Pride Flag shall be flown over the East Wing of the State Capitol Building, beginning today, Friday, June 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. and ending at sunset on June 30, 2020.

PURE WATER DAYS TAPS OUT

Chippewa Falls’ Pure Water Days are canceled this year. Members of the Main Street Board voted to cancel the four-day event yesterday to protect everyone involved. The Cruise in Car Shows scheduled for August and October are also canceled.

EVERS DEFENDS NATIONAL GUARD TO KEEP PEACE

Governor Tony Evers says he absolutely supports the rights of protesters in Madison and Milwaukee, but says he has never supported law breaking. The governor yesterday defended his decision to send the Wisconsin National Guard to Madison and Milwaukee. Some protesters and activists have said the Guard’s presence sends the wrong message. The governor told reporters that it’s the people who are damaging stores and looting that have it wrong. Milwaukee Police are showing people what the worst of this week’s riots
