This weekend is Free Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin and the Department of Natural Resources is offering some ice fishing tips. The DNR reminds anglers to dress warm and always assume no ice is 100 percent safe. The DNR says even though fishing licenses aren’t required this weekend size and bag limits are still in effect. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says visitors won’t be allowed in Wisconsin prisons until at least early February. There is an exception for religious reasons and emergency workers, but visitors will need to test negative for coronavirus before entering a prison. The Department of Corrections says about six percent of prisoners in the state have the virus.

Governor Tony Evers yesterday announced plans to send more than 200 troops to hospitals and care facilities across the state. The soldiers are being trained as certified nursing assistants. The move comes as Wisconsin saw another day of spiking coronavirus hospitalizations. Roughly 22-hundred people are in the hospital with the virus at the weeks end.
