It’s a mild start to the holiday week across western Wisconsin. The weekend winds have died down, and forecasters say it will push 50 degrees tomorrow and Wednesday. But cold air will return on Thanksgiving, with a high in the 20s. Forecasters say there isn’t much of a chance for snow.

Investigators are not sure if a Wisconsin or an out-of-state hunter killed the elk. It is illegal to kill an elk outside of elk season. Whoever pulled the trigger will face a fine, and could face misdemeanor charges. The DNR says it took the elk into custody as evidence.

Crews spent the weekend putting the finishing touches on some last minute items. It takes 32 hundred volunteers to set-up the light show, and organizers say they will see 130 thousand visitors over the next month or so. Santa himself will flip the lights at Rotary Park Friday night.

The state’s Hospital Association said on Friday that just over 12 hundred people are in hospitals across the state with the virus. Of them, about 330 are in the ICU. Wisconsin saw its hospitalization numbers fall last month. The Hospital Association does not track how many people are in the hospital with the virus, as opposed to who is in the hospital because of the virus.
