“Fairly” Close to Fair Upgrades

They’re about 80 percent there. Managers at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair say they’ve raised just under five million of the six million-dollars they want to improve the fairgrounds. Manager Rusty Volk says the fundraising campaign is going ‘extremely well.’ The plan is to modernize and improve barns and other buildings on the fairgrounds. Volk says they plan to break ground in August, just after the fair wraps-up. Construction should wrap-up next winter.

WI Assembly Speaker Faces Fines if Messages Not Delivered

Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker has two weeks to deliver emails and calendars connected to the state’s election investigation or face fines of a thousand-dollars-a-day. A judge in Madison yesterday found Assembly Speaker Robin Vos in contempt of court. The judge says Vos ignored a court order to turn-over the information as part of an open records request from an outside liberal group. Ballot Confusion Cotinues

There continues to be confusion about absentee ballots ahead of next week’s election. Different communities are handling the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s recent ruling on returning absentee ballots differently. Part of the confusion comes from a letter from the League of Wisconsin Municipalities that warned not accepting ballots from non-voters could be a civil rights violation. Students Look to Support School Resource Officers

Some students in La Crosse are ready to ask their local school board to keep their school resource officers. Three teens, Adam Manka, Mason Muth, and Jack Murphy, say they have 300 signatures for a petition that supports the officers. La Crosse Schools are considering a plan that would reduce the number of police officers in the city’s schools next year. WI Coronavirus Hospitalizations Slip

The latest snapshot of Wisconsin’s coronavirus hospitalization numbers show a lot fewer people with serious cases of the virus. The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said just 27 people are in the ICU across the state with the virus. Overall, there are just 172 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Wisconsin. That’s down more than 60 people from just last week.

 University of Wisconsin-Madison is named one of the top family medicine programs in the country.  U.S. News and World Report says Wisconsin ranks fifth on its best family med programs list.  U.S. News and World Report also ranks Wisconsin 37th for research medical schools and 20th for primary care.

Search Continues For Hit and Run Suspects

Authorities are searching for two drivers who are accused of killing a Twin Cities man in a hit-and-run crash in River Falls, Wisconsin.  The Saint Croix County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance photos yesterday of the suspects.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO AND PICS. Body Identified Missing Richland Center Man

Police in Richland Center identify a man who was recently found dead along a walking path.  Police say Peter Schoepp of Richland Center was found dead in the Pine River Prairie earlier this week.  Police say Schoepp was reported missing back in November.  Foul play isn’t suspected in his death.
