A Dunn County judge will not allow a woman convicted of the murder of her ex-boyfriend will get a new trial.
Ezra McCandless is currently serving a sentence for the 2018 murder of Alex Woodworth. Her sentence is 50 years with the possibility of parole. Her defense team said in the pitch for a re-trial that her history with sexual abuse was kept from the jury and journal entries from Woodworth were redacted. The defense said Woodworth’s entries prove he made unwanted sexual contact with McCandless and she thought he was going to harm her.
