That’s why we like to start every Saturday morning with a simple “scroll down memory lane.” It is a way to intentionally start your day off with an easy look back at events that happened on this day in history, so you can head out and make new history today.

In 1879, William Vanderbilt changed the name of Gilmore’s Garden to Madison Square Garden.
In 1896, the first-ever automobile accident occurred in New York City when Henry Wells struck cyclist Ebeling Thomas who suffered a fractured leg.
In 1922, the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C.
In 1966, the U.S. launched Surveyor 1 to the Moon.
In 1967, daredevil Evel Knievel jumped a row of 16 automobiles in a motorcycle stunt at Ascot Speedway in Gardena, California.
