The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at about 4:45 p.m., on May 28, 2026, reporting a two-vehicle crash in the 2200 Block of 90th Ave. in Baldwin Township.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a car vs motorcycle crash. A 2009 Pontiac Vibe was traveling eastbound on 90th Ave, and making a left-hand turn (northbound) onto 220th St. The Pontiac Vibe turned into the path of a 2017 Harley-Davidson that was traveling westbound on 90th Ave. There is no stop sign or traffic control on 90th Ave for east or west bound traffic. The driver of the 2009 Pontiac Vibe was identified as Akeyla R. Roloff, age 16, from Baldwin, WI . The driver of the 2017 Harley-Davidson was identified as Darin S. Ofstie, age 57, from Baldwin WI. Darin Ofstie suffered critical injuries in the crash and was flown from the scene by Like Link III to Regions Hospital. He was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
Later that evening, Darin Ofstie died at Regions Hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. The driver of the Pontiac Vibe, Akeyla was treated by EMS for minor injuries at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Baldwin Police Department, United Fire Department, Baldwin Ambulance, and the Wisconsin State Patrol. This incident represents the second traffic fatality recorded by St. Croix County in 2026.
This crash remains under investigation
