It was another deadly weekend in Milwaukee. The county medical examiner is investigating six homicides that happened between Friday night and last night. At least four of the deaths were shootings. Milwaukee Police say there’s no evidence that the shootings are connected. There’s no word about suspects, motives, or arrests in most of the cases.

The annual March for Life Wisconsin rally was organized by the group Pro-Life Wisconsin, and included speakers. Some pro-choice protesters also showed up to voice their dissent. It was the first March for Life event in Wisconsin since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Governor Tony Evers has called for a special session of the legislature to allow voters to repeal Wisconsin’s abortion ban.

The Wisconsin Historical Society said Thursday that a dugout canoe recovered from Lake Mendota last May is the oldest canoe ever found in the Great Lakes region, and was used by indigenous people around the year 1000 BC. They say the 14-foot canoe was carved from a single piece of white oak and was found near the same place where a 12-hundred-year-old canoe was discovered last November. Both canoes are being restored by preservationists.
