“PAWS”ITIVELY SCARY!

Pets and their owners are getting into the Halloween spirit.  The annual Strut Your Mutt Howl-O-Ween event was held yesterday afternoon at the Hobbs Ice Arena boat landing in Eau Claire.  Around 25 pets and 50 people participated in the event, which included a costume contest and a walk along the Chippewa River Trail.

The Brewers are looking to the future after falling one game short of the World Series.  Milwaukee experienced a disappointing five-to-one loss Saturday night to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Seven of the National League Championship Series.  Officials with the team say they see a bright future for the team.  The Dodgers will take on the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.

Republican Governor Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Tony Evers are drawing clear lines on where they stand on issues like immigration, taxes, school funding, and roads.  The two candidates for governor met in their first televised debate Friday.  Walker emphasized that he was proud to be governor and wanted to “finish the job” in the next four years, while downplaying criticism from a fourth former cabinet member.  Evers called Walker a career politician and says the state needs a change.

This is the week to bring out your lucky horseshoes and four-leaf clovers.  America’s two largest lotteries are expecting a combined jackpot of more than two-billion dollars.  There was no winner in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.  That means Wednesday’s drawing is expected to reach at least 620-million dollars.  And that will be a day after Mega Millions is offering a world-record jackpot of one-point-six billion dollars.  Powerball had the previous world record at just under one-point-six billion for a 2016 drawing.

WI BACK ON NETFLIX

Was it a Netflix binge weekend for you? Making a Murderer Part Two is now available on Netflix.  The documentary series revolves around the murder convictions of Steven Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey.  They were found guilty of the 2005 murder of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach.  Both men insist they did not kill the photographer, whose burned body was found outside her trailer in northern Wisconsin –Manitowac County.  The second season will focus on Avery’s and Dassey’s lives in prison.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates Gov. Scott Walker and State Superintendent Tony Evers debated Friday night in Madison. The candidates debated numerous issues including health care, education, taxes, student loans, marijuana legalization, and other topics. COMMUNITY CONNECTS FOR CLOSS CASE
