Badgers wide receiver Markus Allen could be facing a weapons charge.  The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says Allen was arrested at the Mifflin Street Block Party over the weekend on a tentative charge of intoxicated use of a gun.  He’s no longer in custody and hasn’t been charged yet.  Police say 44 people were arrested at this year’s party.

This month planes will be spraying for spongy moths in western Wisconsin including in Crawford, Grant, and Lafayette Counties.  The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection says those are three of over a dozen counties that will be treated in mid to late May.  The planes will spray a soil bacteria that kills spongy moth caterpillars, which are damaging to the environment.  The department says the spray isn’t harmful to humans or pets.  A map of the coverage areas is available online

New license plates are available in Wisconsin.  Today the Wisconsin Department of Transportation unveiled the Ice Age Trail license plate, a baby blue plate with a yellow stripe on the bottom and a woolly mammoth on the side.  The plates cost 15 dollars, plus an annual 25 dollar donation to the Ice Age Trail Alliance.  More information is available WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.

Wisconsin is one of the best states for working moms according to a new study.  That’s according to the latest study by WalletHub ranking each state on 17 key metrics including child care costs, professional opportunities, and work-life balance.  Wisconsin ranks fifth overall and third in professional opportunities.  WalletHub says the best state for working moms is Massachusetts.

A crash heading into the weekend marks the first traffic fatality in Barron County this year. On Friday, April 28, 2023, at 10:05 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a one vehicle crash on County Road D/7th Ave west of County Road K/2nd St, south of Turtle Lake.  General Mills is issuing a recall for some of its bags of Gold Medal flour.  The FDA issued the announcement, saying the possible presence of salmonella in several batches of flour prompted the voluntary recall.  Specifically, the two, five, and ten-pound bags of bleached and unbleached all-purpose flour that have a “better if used by” date of March 27th or March 28th, 2024.  All other types of Gold Medal flour are not affected by the recall.  General Mills says salmonella was detected in a sample from a

 The University of Wisconsin says it is ‘gathering information’ about the weekend arrest of a Badger football player. Madison Police arrested wide receiver Markus Allen on Saturday for suspicion of being drunk and armed. Allen was one of 44 people arrested at the Block Party this weekend. Madison Police say they found a stolen gun in a backpack, but stopped short of naming Allen in the arrest. The university says it’s aware of the situation and is trying to process the information.
