Kwik! Got (Bagged) Milk?

Bagged milk is on its way out at Kwik Trip. The company yesterday said it will stop selling milk in bags in May. Kwik Trip’s John McHugh says customers prefer their milk in jugs. Kwik Trip has sold milk in bags for about 40 years, and McHugh says they will offer bagged milk customers a special deal while supplies last.

Mr. Baseball Behind the Mic

The voice of the Milwaukee Brewers will be behind the mic for the team’s home opener, after that though, he may be missing. The Brewers yesterday said Bob Uecker will call the first home game of the season this year, but the team says they will take it ‘one day at a time’ after that. Uekcer is 90-years-old, and has been calling Brewer games since 1971. Tuesday is the first home game for Milwaukee, they take on the Minnesota Twins.

Menomonie Man Sentenced in Workplace Threat Case

A man from Menomonie accused of making threats at his workplace that resulted in a lockdown will get probation.  Garett Kinser was accused of trying to get his coworkers to help him make bombs to burn down their workplace, Phillips Medsize.  He was also accused of threatening to throw a coworker into a meat grinder.  Kinser was accused of terroristic threats, but took a plea deal for two lesser charges.  He will be on probation for a year-and-a-half and will

WI Company Sues Investment Firm

A Wisconsin-based company is suing an investment firm for lost investments totaling nearly three-million dollars.  NeuGen says almost 300 employees lost their investments when MassMutual stopped offering one investment option for all staff.  The Madison company says the decision to end the agreement followed the announcement of the layoffs.  NeuGen says affected employees lost about 18-percent of their earnings in a day.  They say they aren’t looking to make a profit from the lawsuit.

New Virus Identified in WI Fish

Over a dozen new viruses have been identified in Wisconsin fish, including a type of coronavirus found in Walleyes.  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources tests sport fish periodically.  Researchers at the University of Wisconsin SeaGrant program say the fish coronavirus is related to the avian influenza coronavirus that kills birds.  Researchers say it does not transmit to humans.
