WI Partners on Customer Complaints

Wisconsin is partnering with the US Department of Transportation to help review consumer complaints against airlines. Attorney General Josh Kaul says his office is now able to investigate the complaints, which are typically handled by the US DOT under federal law. The federal agency will give technical help and training. Most complaints are about refunds, flight disruptions, and missing or delayed baggage.

Children Survivors Face Struggles

Children who have survived a shooting are more likely to develop substance abuse disorders than those who haven’t experienced one.  The latest fact sheet from the Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health says PTSD, hyper-vigilance, anxiety, and depression are the most common conditions for shooting survivors. The office also says survivors are diagnosed with twice as many pain disorders. The OCMH says the Speak Up, Speak Out tip line is a state resource for reporting threats or concerns about weapons

One report ranks Milwaukee as one of the top ten cities with the least access to marijuana. The city is number 43 out of fifty U-S cities analyzed by Real Estate Witch. The site used data like the legality of weed, the number of dispensaries per 100-thousand residents, and the number of doctors who can prescribe cannabis products. Weed is illegal in Wisconsin, but the sale of CBD oil is not.

Doors Closed, Investigation Could Open

Eau Claire’s city attorney wants the state to investigate, and prosecute if possible, the CEO at HSHS hospitals. City Attorney Stephen Nick yesterday sent a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, explaining that HSHS abruptly closed its hospitals in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls without enough notice. Hospital, PFAS Funding Snarled in Political Knots

Hospitals in the Chippewa Valley are no closer to getting that 15 million-dollars from the state. The money is tied-up in the back-and-forth between Governor Evers and Republican lawmakers. Just like money for PFAS clean-up, the governor says Republicans are refusing to let him spend the money and Republicans say the governor is looking to create a slush fund. Search Continues, Vang in Court

The boyfriend of Elijah Vue’s mother was in court yesterday to plead not guilty to neglect charges. Elijah Vue, 3, is still missing.(Two Rivers Police Department) Jesse Vang didn’t say anything during his brief court appearance yesterday. He’s charged with neglect. He was the last person to see three-year-old Elijah Vue alive back in February. He told police that he took a nap, and woke-up and the boy was gone. Former Coach Facing Charges

A former Wood County coach is facing charges that he took naked pictures of some of his former students. Prosecutors this week filed formal charges against former Assumption Catholic High School coach and counselor Seth Milkey. Police say they got a call to his house last month where Milkey was threatening to kill himself.
