7 Victims of Milwaukee Shooting in Stable Condition

Seven people shot in Milwaukee yesterday are in stable condition. Milwaukee police say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear right now. Seven people were injured in one shooting at the Serenity funeral home in the 42-hundred-block of West Fond du Lac Avenue. Police say they’re looking for a suspect. Towns Prep for Friday Night Lights

Tomorrow night’s high school football game between the Menomonie Mustangs and the New Richmond Tigers will be limited to 50 fans. The Menomonie Police Department says only parents with tickets are allowed in the stadium, and no one will be allowed to gather along the fence line. They say police officers will be present to remind individuals of the rules if needed.

Train Project Chugs Ahead

You’ll soon be able to take the train from Minneapolis through Western Wisconsin to Chicago. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced a nearly 32-million-dollar federal grant to finish the Twin Cities-Milwaukee-Chicago passenger rail project. The train is expected to start service in 2024.

Making Sense of WI Coronavirus Numbers

We are hearing a lot about a surge in Wisconsin Coronavirus cases. As of today, here is what we are learning. COVID-19 claims the lives of 27 Wisconsinites as the state set a one-day record.  Department of Health officials say the death toll stands at 13-hundred-and-27.  Over 23-hundred cases were reported today, bring the state total over 127-thousand cases. Currently 81-percent of all hospital beds statewide are being used and over 79-percent of ICU beds are occupied mostly with COVID patients.

Energy Assistance Program Underway

The eligibility requirements for the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as WHEAP, are being expanded due to the pandemic. Eligibility was based on the previous three months of a household’s income. Now it’s based on a household’s previous month’s income. The annual assistance program kicks off today for the winter season.  WHEAP is administered by the Western Dairyland Economic Opportunity Council in Eau Claire and Trempealeau counties. Xcel Energy Powers Up Community Donations

Xcel Energy is reaching out to help organizations in western and north Wisconsin impacted by the pandemic. The company announced yesterday that it will donate 100-thousand-dollars to nearly a dozen organizations. Eau Claire Community Foundation, La Crosse Community Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Dunn County are among the recipients.
