WI Contact Tracing App Coming Soon

There is now an app for that.  Governor Tony Evers today announced the launch of Wisconsin Exposure Notification, which is a new mobile app to help facilitate COVID 19 contact tracing.  Now people can be alerted by phone if they have been in close contact with somebody who recently tested positive for COVID-19.  The governor says it’s just another tool to try and stop the spread of coronavirus.  The app will be available to download on December 23rd.

Packers Back Late Legend

The Green Bay Packers are honoring a late legend by establishing a grant in his name.  The  Packers announced a 250-thousand-dollar grant today honoring Willie Davis, which will be given to the UW-Green Bay Cofrin School of Business.  Davis was not only a Hall of Fame player but a great businessman. The grant will establish the Willie Davis Financial Trading and Investment Laboratory which will promote financial literacy for students.

Deadly ATV Accident in Rusk Co.

We now know who died in that ATV rollover last weekend in Rusk County. The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Michael Stangl died when his ATV rolled on top of him. Stangl is from Eau Claire. Deputies are not saying just what happened to cause the wreck.

Taking Sides in Local Parking Debate

The City of Eau Claire is proposing some parking changes in the neighborhoods near Regis High School. In a public meeting Wednesday night, community members expressed concerns to about parking on both sides of the street saying its dangerous for students getting on the buses and trying to get to school. If passed, changes would restrict parking to one side of the street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

EC Virtual School Open Enrollment Begins

The Eau Claire Area School District is opening enrollment for online classes next year. The school says the lottery for virtual school beginning in the fall of 2021 is open to students going into 4th through 12th grades. Applications can be accessed and submitted online.

DOJ Releases News Info in Officer Involved Death

We’re getting a bit of new information about the man killed by authorities in Fort Atkinson last week. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says 23-year-old Joseph Crawford died when three state troopers shot him on December 9th. They say Crawford was trying to carjack someone and continue a police chase. Yesterday, the DOJ said Crawford robbed a bank in Monona just hours before the shootout. Judge Accepts Plea

The owner of an Eau Claire Mexican restaurant will not go to prison for sexually assaulting two women who worked at the restaurant. Judge Jon Theisen accepted Filiberto Rivera’s guilty plea yesterday, and ordered him into a deferred plea agreement. That means if Rivera doesn’t commit a crime for three-and-a-half years, the sexual assault charges will be erased.
