One Arrested in Wilson Stabbing

One person is in jail and another is recovering after a stabbing in the Town of Wilson yesterday. The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office is not saying what led-up to the stabbing, though deputies say the two men knew each other. Gavel Drops: Former Priest Sentenced

It’s a year’s worth of probation for a former Chippewa County priest accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. A judge yesterday sentenced former McDonell Area Catholic School Chaplain Father Charles Richmond to one year of probation. He’s not allowed to have any contact with girls under 18, but he will not have to register as a sex offender. A former student accused Richmond of abuse. Two Pulled from Ice in Onalaska

It’s a reminder for fishermen across the state. Rescue crews in Onalaska yesterday pulled two men from Lake Onalaska after they got stuck while ice fishing. Firefighters say the fishermen’s boat hit a weak spot in the ice, and they became stuck. No one was hurt. Crews figure the two were stuck for about 40 minutes. Firefighters say everyone needs to be careful of spotty ice conditions at this point in the winter.

Relief on Tap for Water Bills

The latest piece of Wisconsin’s coronavirus relief money is going to pay people’s water bills. Governor Evers yesterday said he’s earmarking 18 million-dollars for the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program. There’s no word just how many people will be helped by the money. The governor’s office says the 18 million brings the total spent on rent, utilities, and housing assistance from Wisconsin’s coronavirus cash stockpile to just over 86-million-dollars.

Lottery Record Helps Property Tax Relief

A record year for lottery sales in Wisconsin is good news for homeowners in the state. The Wisconsin Lottery yesterday said homeowners will see a larger property tax credit for 2021. A portion of lottery sales is saved for property tax relief each year. This year, lottery managers say that comes to 341 million-dollars. That’s over 100 million-dollars more than last year. The average payment per-homeowner comes to about 230 dollars.

The Republican members of the State Assembly panel investigating last year’s vote now want to know who has access to the state’s voter rolls. State Rep. WI DHS Confirms Covid-19 Deaths

There aren’t any details about the young child who is being listed as Wisconsin’s first coronavirus death of someone under 10-years-old. The state’s Department of Health Services listed the child deaths last week, but isn’t saying if they had any underlying health conditions or other issues. Foxconn Sees Millions in State Aid

Foxconn is getting paid by the state of Wisconsin. The Evers Administration yesterday said the company qualified for 29 million-dollars in tax credits by adding jobs and making other investments at its campus in Mount Pleasant. This is the first time Foxconn has qualified for any state aid since it signed a development deal back in 2017. Governor Evers re-wrote the agreement with Foxconn back in the spring to guarantee tax credits for a smaller-than-promised manufacturing facility.

Push to Add To WI Voter Rolls

There’s a push to add more people to Wisconsin’s voter rolls. The League of Women Voters yesterday filed a lawsuit in Madison to have the court force the Wisconsin Elections Commission to reinstate 32 thousand voters who have been deactivated. WEC moved the voters to their ‘inactive’ list because they had not voted in years. It was another court case, brought by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, that pushed WEC to deactivate the voters. The League says the 32-thousand weren’t given proper notice
