Push Continues for Special Task Force

State Representative Sheila Stubbs is urging the Wisconsin Senate to take a new vote on a missing and murdered African American women and girls task force.

A state legislative committee approved a measure Stubbs is sponsoring on the subject earlier this year, but that proposal ultimately failed.  Yesterday, Stubbs met with other Wisconsin leaders at the state house to highlight the need for action, citing statistics that rank Wisconsin as the worst state in the nation when it comes to the homicide victimization rate for Black women and girls.  The task force Stubbs is pushing would work on strategies for preventing violence and develop support for law enforcement and impacted families.  Senator Duey Stroebel has sent a letter to Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, saying such an effort should be directed out of his office.
