Eau Claire wants a count of how many people are renting their homes online.
Community development director Scott Allen says if Eau Claire wants to write new rules for people who are using Airbnb or VRBO, they first need to know just how many people are currently using those kinds of services. Allen says Eau Claire will use software called Host Compliance to get a short term rental census. Allen says the hope is to figure out if Eau Claire needs new regulations or new rules for online rentals.
