Cases Up, Hospitalizations Flat in WI

While more people are testing positive for the coronavirus, few of them are coming down with a severe case of the virus.

As we hear more and more about the rise in cases, we will take it apart and look at the pieces that are important here in our area.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services yesterday reported 316 new cases and a seven-day average of seven-point-two-percent. That’s the highest average since January. But while the number of cases are up, the number of people being hospitalized or dying from the virus is flat.

DHS said the seven-day average for hospitalizations is 171 people, about where it’s been for weeks. DHS says Wisconsin is averaging just one coronavirus death a week, which is where the state has been for months.
