Eau Claire’s city council wants more time to consider the Sojourner House expansion.
Catholic Charities, which operates the homeless shelter, wants to expand so it can safely socially distance the people who stay there. But an anonymous letter complained of nearly 200 police calls to the shelter this year and expressed concern that an expansion could lead to more crime.
Catholic Charities says the expansion would add more space, but it would not add more beds. The city council says it wants to have more public discussion about the shelter.
