Suspects Apprehended in Separate Pursuits

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office would like to clarify some misinformation circulating reference two pursuits in the county in a 24-hour period. Below you will find information on both pursuits, neither pursuit resulted in any injury or property damage within Buffalo County or any use of force beyond Tire Deflation Devices. 

On August 23, 2021 at approximately 3PM the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office initiated a vehicle pursuit that had been previously started in Pepin County. The pursuit started north of the Village of Nelson, traveled south on STH 35 through Alma and was ended in the Town of Belvidere, just north of the Village of Cochrane with the aid of Tire Deflation Devices. The suspect was taken into custody and was identified as 23 year old Frederick Clements. Clements was operating a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Pick Up. Assisting with the pursuit in Buffalo County was the Alma Police Department, Pepin County Sheriff’s Office, Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement from Wabasha, MN. 

On August 24, 2021 at approximately 4AM the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office joined into a pursuit traveling east on USH 10. The pursuit was initiated by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, joined by the Pepin County Sheriff’s Office, City of Mondovi Police Department, and the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit continued east of Buffalo County and the suspect was later apprehended in Clark County.
