The snow is being blamed for a crash on I-94 that killed a woman. On December 21, 2022, at about 5:10pm the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single vehicle rollover crash with ejection on I94 near mile marker 66 westbound in Eau Claire County. A Jackson County man who killed his father back in 2013 is getting out of the state mental hospital. A judge yesterday ordered that 29-year-old Lars Helgeson be released from state custody. Helgeson served just five-and-a-half years of what could have been a life sentence for killing his father. Prosecutors say Helgeson shot his father in the head, burned, then buried his body on their property. Helgeson’s lawyers say he suffered from untreated schizophrenia. Helgeson will be out of the

 There are finally charges in last summer’s boat crash on the Fox River that sent a dozen people to the hospital. The state’s Department of Justice yesterday announced hit-and-run charges against 52-year-old Jason Lindemann from Oshkosh. Investigators say he crashed his boat into the riverboat On The Loos after a day of drinking back on July 9th. There were 44 people on the riverboat at the time of the wreck. Flags will fly at half-staff today to remember the Milwaukee mailman gunned down earlier this month. Governor Evers yesterday ordered flags lowered today to remember Aundre Cross. He’s the mailman who was shot and killed while delivering mail back on December 9th. The governor says Cross was a dedicated public servant who gave 18 years to the Post Office. Milwaukee Police have not yet made any arrests in the case, despite a 50 thousand-dollar reward for information.The dates are out

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is asking drivers to be very cautious during their holiday travel this week.  The D-O-T says travel may not be possible in some parts of the state Friday because of the potential for blizzard conditions.  The D-O-T also says driving conditions may become too treacherous for tow trucks to help stranded drivers.  Twenty-four hour road conditions are available online at 5-1-1-W-I-dot-gov.

The dates are out for the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.  The Republican National Committee says the convention will run from July 15th to the 18th, 2024.  Republicans will spend the week selecting their nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

Milwaukee wants a recount.  Mayor Cavalier Johnson yesterday formally challenged the results of the 2020 Census.  That count showed Milwaukee lost about 16 thousand-people over the last decade.  The smaller headcount means less of everything from representation in Congress to fewer federal dollars.  Johnson says he wants to ‘set the record straight.’  The 2020 Census put Milwaukee’s population at just over 577 thousand people.  Johnson and others say the city’s population is much closer to 594 thousand people.  There’s no

There is a warning about a potent batch of heroin in Sauk County. The state’s Department of Health Services says four overdoses were traced back to heroin sold in Sauk County earlier this month. At least four people overdosed in one day. The county health department’s Hannah Erdman says the numbers indicate there is a potent batch of heroin or fentanyl in the area. The Palace Theater has closed its doors in the Dells, and is telling people with tickets to ask for a refund. The theater’s website yesterday simply said ‘We will forever cherish the wonderful memories of shows, concerts, and special occasions that we created over the past eight years.’ No one is offering a reason for the theater’s sudden closing. The Palace says anyone who bought tickets within the past 90 days should cancel their orders through their credit card company.
