Peek Into Polling Shows Different Directions

Two new polls in Wisconsin show slightly different numbers in the state’s marquee races. Both  Emerson College, and Spectrum News and Siena College released polls yesterday. The Spectrum poll gives Governor Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes slight leads. The Emerson poll has Republican Ron Johnson leading Barnes in the race for U.S. Senate. It has Evers leading Republican Tim Michels, but that lead is within the poll’s margin of error. Both polls also show the economy and inflation are the top issues

WI Stimulus Money Headed to EMS Services

The latest piece of Wisconsin’s coronavirus stimulus money is going to EMS services across the state. Governor Evers yesterday announced 32 million-dollars in grants for over 440 local emergency service providers. The money can be used to buy new equipment or simply stock-up local first responders’ needs.

Madison Addresses Tear Gas Procedures

Police in Madison will continue to be able to use tear gas for crowd control, but they will have to write the city council a report each time they do. Madison’s council last night backed away from an ordinance that would have limited the use of tear gas, pepper spray, and other less-than-lethal options to times when police officers’ were under direct threat. Polling Continues To Show Close Races in WI

A new poll continues to show close races for Wisconsin governor and Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate seat.  The Spectrum News/Siena College Poll says 49-percent of respondents plan to vote for Democratic Governor Tony Evers while 44-percent plan to vote for Republican Tim Michels.  In the race for senate, 49-percent said they’d vote for Democratic Lieutenant Governor Mandella Barnes and 48-percent said they’d vote for Republican Senator Ron Johnson.  The poll says 32-percent of respondents were Democrats, 27-percent were Republicans, and 35-percent were independents.

Second Sentenced Handed Down in Deadly Drive-By

It’s 30 years in prison for a second Madison man who was involved in a drive by shooting that resulted in the death of 11-year-old Anisa Scott.  Yesterday Perion Carreon apologized for his role in her death, but the judge pointed to the fact that Scott is still dead regardless of his intentions.  Another man was sentenced to 35 years in prison last week while a third suspect is set to go to trial in November.
