One of Wisconsin’s holiday traditions is returning this year. Canadian Pacific last week said its Holiday Train will once again make its trek through Wisconsin. There are 13 stops in the state, including six in southeast Wisconsin on December 8th and 9th. The train was canceled for the past two years because of the coronavirus.

The State Patrol says a trooper was patrolling U.S. 12 in Monroe County recently when they saw the eagle and noticed it was hurt. The State Patrol says the trooper protected the eagle with their cruiser until the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources could get there.

Edward Malnar is charged with casting absentee ballots in both Wisconsin and Michigan and voting in-person on Election Day in Wisconsin. A criminal complaint was filed Monday and Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney filed charges against Malnar today. He faces three-and-a-half years in prison.

Read MoreIt looks like there will be a guilty plea in the 2008 murder of a UW-Madison student. Lawyers for David Kahl have asked for a plea hearing this week. He was arrested back in 2020 after his DNA matched a sample from Brittany Zimmermann’s murder. She was stabbed and strangled in her campus apartment. Kahl originally pleaded not guilty in the case, though he did tell investigators that he was high on crack on the day that Zimmermann died.

The Oregon Area Fire Department yesterday didn’t say what caused the being-built homes to explode, but said the homes are a total loss. No one was hurt in the explosions. Neighbors say they heard a rumble, then a boom. Fire investigators say they will release more information about the cause once they find out just what caused the blast.
Read MoreThe investigation into the staff at the Henry Vilas Zoo came up empty on complaints of harassment and discrimination. The Dane County Board yesterday said the independent investigation into the zoo found a few past complaints about animal treatment, but the report said those complaints were all dealt with. The investigation started after accusations of sexual harassment and whistle-blower retaliation were leveled at zoo managers. The county board will get a full copy of the investigation next month.

Read MoreThere are now felony charges against a UW-Eau Claire student who said there was a bomb in Towers Hall. Prosecutors yesterday charged 19-year-old Mason Waymire with making terroristic threats. Investigators say Waymire made the threat on a social media platform in September. Campus police say there was never a bomb, and no one was in any real danger. Police say Waymire told them his friends dared him to make the post, and he didn’t think it would be taken seriously.
