Republicans want to use the state’s seven billion-dollar surplus to help pay for a shift away from the current income tax, to a lower flat tax. Governor Evers has promised to veto any kind of a flat tax, and Republican leaders at the Capitol say they’re turning their attention to other ideas. Still, supporters say moving to a low, flat tax in Wisconsin will make the state much more attractive, and could get people to move into Wisconsin.
