Republican lawmakers will begin trimming-down Governor Evers’ budget proposal later today. The budget-writing Joint Finance Committee will hold its first session of the month, with an eye toward finishing Wisconsin’s new two-year state budget within a few weeks. The JFC has not yet said what will be included in the new budget, or just how much it will be. Read MoreWisconsin’s newest elections commissioner is coming from Milwaukee County. Governor Evers yesterday named former Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki to the Elections Commission. He is replacing former Sheboygan County Clerk Julie Glancey, who retired from the Commission on Friday. Czarnezki spent a decade in the state legislature in the 1980s, and was elected as Milwaukee County Clerk in 2008 and 2012, after that he served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says Allen was arrested at the Mifflin Street Block Party over the weekend on a tentative charge of intoxicated use of a gun. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection says those are three of over a dozen counties that will be treated in mid to late May. The planes will spray a soil bacteria that kills spongy moth caterpillars, which are damaging to the environment. The department says the spray isn’t harmful to humans or pets.
