The Stanley Business Expo has returned for the first time since 2017. Businesses were on hand at Stanley-Boyd High School over the weekend for the event. The Stanley Area Chamber of Commerce says it’s an important event for businesses. The event traditionally was held every other year, and the plan is to bring it back next year.

Cinder City Hosts Frosty Event

Altoona’s Frosty Toona Fat Tire bike race was held Saturday. The event is in its third year at River Prairie Park. Ruben Dayton-Brantmayer won the men’s race, which was very competitive with him finishing less than four seconds ahead of the top four men. Rachael Jenson won the women’s race.

Badgers Suit Up

The Wisconsin Badgers football are back on the practice field for the first time since the hiring of Head coach Luke Fickell in November.  Spring practice began Saturday indoors due to the weather.  Wisconsin will host “The Launch” on April 22nd at Camp Randall Stadium, which is an open practice event.

WI Representative Speaks Out Against TikTok

 Representative Mike Gallagher says last week’s testimony from TikTok’s CEO has “increased the likelihood that Congress will take some action. Appearing on ABC’s This Week alongside Illinois Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Wisconsin Republican said national security concerns surrounding the widely popular Chinese-owned video app have united Democrats and Republicans.  Krishnamoorthi said the hearing didn’t do TikTok any favors and didn’t seemed fazed when asked about potential political fallout from a ban given its popularity among young people.  House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also

Out Like a Lion: Madison Sets Snow Record

Madison is seeing a record-breaking amount of snow.  The Dane County Regional Airport on Saturday received over 12 inches of snow in a nine-hour period.  That breaks the daily snowfall record for March set in 1971.  It’s also rare for Madison to receive over a foot of snow in a 24-hour period, which hasn’t happened since 2012.

Longtime Badgers Football Staff Retires

A longtime member of the Badgers football staff is retiring.  Henry Mason started coaching Wisconsin’s wide receivers in 1995, and was moved to the front office in 2009 after suffering an injury.   Since then Mason’s been working with NFL scouts to high school coaches to help develop new talent.  On Thursday, 21 NFL scouts met at a Madison coffee shop to have coffee and donuts with Mason, and to wish him a happy retirement.  One tweet from an NFL scout called

Southern WI Sees Winter Storm

Snow emergencies are in effect for communities across southern Wisconsin as the latest winter storm moves in.  Madison Streets Division crews were out Friday night, plowing and salting streets but officials are warning drivers to expect slushy, slippery streets this morning.  Weather advisories will be in effect into the afternoon when this latest late winter storm is expected to move out.

WI Soldier’s Remains Return Home

A Wisconsin soldier’s remains are finally home, nearly 80 years after he gave his life for his country.  Army Pfc. William “Sonny” Simon’s remains were brought home to Middleton Friday night, four months after the remains were accounted for overseas.  Simon, born and raised in Middleton, was killed in action in November, 1944.  He was only 20 years old.  Police escorted the convoy carrying his remains past his childhood home.  Funeral services are set for next week.

Multiple People Facing Drug Charges After Shipping Drugs

Six people are facing drug charges, accused of having fentanyl shipped to Madison from Arizona.  The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the suspects helped ship over five kilograms of the drug through the U.S. Postal Service.  They were arrested Monday on drug trafficking charges.  The DOJ says it’s still looking for two other people in connection with the case.
