WI Sees Worsening Drought Conditions

Wisconsin’s drought conditions are worsening, especially in parts of southern Wisconsin.  The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map shows areas along the Wisconsin River from about the Mississippi River to Wisconsin Dells are under severe drought.  None of Wisconsin was seeing that bad of drought conditions this time last week.

WWII Veterans’ Remains Returned to WI

The remains of a World War Two soldier from Jackson County have been identified and are headed back to Wisconsin.  Clinton Koloski was killed in France back in 1945 and his remains weren’t positively identified until last September.  He’ll have a full military burial in Beloit next Friday.

Regis Names Next Softball Coach

Regis High School has named Nolan Fadness as the next Head Softball Coach. Fadness graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 2007 where he was a three-year varsity starter and a two-time 1st Team All Big Rivers Conference player for the Old Abes in baseball. Chippewa Co. Crash Under Investigation

On Monday 06/19/2023 at 0336 A.M. the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle crash. It was reported that a vehicle was upside down and one vehicle in the ditch with unknown injury. Upon arrival one subject was trapped inside vehicle and the other driver was out of the vehicle with no visible injuries. Fire units were able to extricate the driver and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. Preliminary investigation

The RCU Foundation’s Rock the Riverfront Classic Rock Hunt sponsored by Market & Johnson ended on the evening of Wednesday, June 21.  Amber Borofka and her family from Eau Claire found the rock hiding near a bush in University Park near the Eau Claire Area School District Admin building on Grand Avenue. Charges Filed After Threats Made to Courthouse

Charges have been filed against the Minnesota man accused of making threats against the Chippewa County Courthouse back in May. Harley Alcala has been charged with making terrorist threats. Back on the night of May first, police say Alcala made a series of threats against the courthouse in posts on Facebook.   Alcala faces up to 21 and a half years in prison if convicted.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing, Hits Minivan

Two people are recovering after a plane trying to make an emergency landing crashed into the back of a minivan in Waunakee.  Police say a single engine plane lost power yesterday afternoon shortly after taking off from the city’s airport. Changes on Tap For WI Liquor Regulations

 The Wisconsin Assembly is approving a measure aimed at changing the way liquor regulations are handled across the state.  AB 304 passed with broad support in a 90 to four vote yesterday.  The bill would create a statewide bartending license, establish a new division in the Department of Revenue to enforce alcohol sales rules, and require wedding barns to obtain a permit or license in order to serve.  Governor Evers is expected to sign the bill into law if it is approved
