There’s a lawsuit against schools in Eau Claire over how the school district talked to kids about a teacher’s gender transition.  The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, known as WILL, yesterday sued Eau Claire Area Schools on behalf of a parent who wants to know what the school told her children about a teacher’s transition from man to woman.  The school district so far, has not share the statement that was read to kids on the second to last day of

 Jim Leonhard has a new job in the Big 10, at Illinois. The University of Illinois yesterday said it’s hired Leonhard to be its senior football analyst. Leonhard had been a defensive coordinator with the Badgers, and was even interim head coach last season. He left Wisconsin after the school hired Luke Fickell. It’s not clear just what Leonhard will do as football analyst, but he’s expected to help the U of I focus on its defense. Wisconsin plays Illinois, in Champaign this fall.

The latest plan from Democrats at the Wisconsin Capitol would encourage businesses to install adult changing stations in their bathrooms.  Senator Melissa Agard and state Rep. Robyn Vining say the program would help adults with disabilities.  Vining said often families of people with disabilities simply don’t go places because there aren’t any facilities for them.  She says it’s an issue of human dignity.  The plan would install universal changing stations in all public buildings, and offer tax credits to businesses that do

The Mega Millions jackpot is inching closer to a billion dollars.  No one won the big prize in last night’s game.  Lottery managers say that means Friday’s drawing will be worth 910-million dollars.  That would be the eighth-largest jackpot in U.S. history.  The lump sum payout would be 464-million dollars, before taxes.  

Wisconsin’s air quality alert is extended to eleven o’clock tonight.  The National Weather Service says that’s around the time all that Canadian wildfire smoke should start to move out.  Until then the National Weather Service says people susceptible to poor air quality should limit their time outside.

The Chippewa Valley Technical College Culinary Management Program received a seven-year exemplary status accreditation from American Culinary Federation during its national meeting the week of July 15. CVTC Culinary Management Instructors, Kevin Brown, Jon Fike and Melissa Tok, attended the national meeting in New Orleans when the Federation’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve the renewal of the Program’s accreditation. Police in Whitewater say last week’s report of an attempted child abduction was a hoax. Investigators yesterday said the witness who said they saw a man try and snatch a young girl off the street ‘gave a false account.’ That report sent police across southern Wisconsin looking for a man with tan skin in a black sedan. Whitewater Police say there is no threat to the community. They are not saying, however, if the person who made-up the story will be charged.

Republicans in Wisconsin are now embracing early voting. Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel yesterday launched what they are calling the Bank Your Vote initiative. McDaniel says the idea is to get Republicans to vote early, so they don’t have to wait for or worry about Election Day. Democrats in the state say the Republican push comes after years of Republicans trying to limit early voting.
