One motorcyclist is dead and two others are injured after three separate crashes.  A 63-year-old man died at the scene in a Pepin County crash Saturday when he went into a guardrail and was ejected from his motorcycle.  Another motorcyclist is suffering from life-threatening injuries after he struck a deer in Buffalo County and was thrown from his motorcycle.  Deputies say speed may be a factor in that crash.  A third motorcyclist suffered a serious leg injury when he lost

A national movement intending to share hope and spread love is part of an annual Eau Claire event.  This year’s Suicide Prevention Walk took place Saturday in Carson Park, where community members walked through a line of shoes that represented the 174 lives taken by suicide in the last five years in the Chippewa Valley.

A Wisconsin mail carrier is pleading guilty to stealing more than six-thousand greeting cards filled with cash and checks.  Ebony Smith was assigned to a couple of zip codes in Wauwatosa since 2015.  An investigation was started after residents kept complaining they weren’t getting their cards.  A sting operation involving a transmitter placed inside a decoy card led postal agents to make the bust.  An auto scrap yard also found thousands of envelopes and hundreds of checks in the back of a

Two new loan programs will further help homeowners and businesses recover from recent flooding.  Governor Scott Walker says the Flood Relief Loan Program will provide no-interest loans up to ten-thousand-dollars to repair homes damaged by flooding. A Disaster Recovery Microloan Program is also being unveiled by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.  That will help small businesses gain an immediate source of funds for restoration work and related expenses. 

Wisconsin is one of a dozen states where Bob Evans Farms has recalled pork sausage links.  The USDA says the sausage links might contain pieces of plastic.  The links all have a lot code of 8213.  There have been no reports of any injuries.  

A former UW-Madison employee who stole over 100-thousand-dollars will spend some time in jail, but he’s avoiding prison time. 53-year-old Kevin O’Donnell pleaded guilty to stealing the funds from the university’s housing division.  He was sentenced to eight months in jail and six years of probation.  The Dane County assistant district attorney and O’Donnell’s attorney recommended jail time instead of prison time because he didn’t have a criminal history and was a 26-year Army veteran.  

The UW-Madison Department of Chemistry building is undergoing renovations.  The university plans to invest 133-million-dollars to revamp the building at University Avenue and Mills Street.  Officials say the change is needed to accommodate for an uptick in STEM courses.  The project will reportedly include two large lecture rooms, a new library and four floors of undergraduate instructional labs. 

We now know the name of a man involved in a motorcycle crash. 30 year old Alex Gruber was traveling on County Highway F near Spring Creek Road in Buffalo County when he hit a deer. He was ejected from the cycle and air lifted with life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet and speed may have been a factor in the crash.

On Thursday morning JUST before 730 a call of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 8 east of Almena was reported.  Initial investigation shows a Ford Taurus driven by 77 year old MaryAnn Desilvio, of Almena, was stopped on Hwy 8 waiting to turn into her driveway when she was rear ended by a truck driven by  30 year old Travis Peterson,  of Turtle Lake-there was also a passenger in the Taurus, 53 year old Donald Desilvio.
