Flying out of Madison is more expensive than anywhere else in the U.S. A new study released Friday shows that Dane County Regional Airport is the nation’s most expensive for domestic departures. The average cost for a domestic flight is 538 dollars. MSN and an airport in Anchorage, Alaska are the only ones where the average cost to fly out is above 500 dollars.

The mother of a 15-year-old Madison girl who was shot and killed this week has set up a GoFundMe to support her family. Kyesha Miller was killed and three other teens were injured Tuesday when four people got out of a vehicle on Madison’s east side Tuesday and opened fire. Police say they found nearly 50 shell casings outside the Harmony at Grandview Commons apartment complex where the teens were shot. Kyesha’s mother Karnika Miller said the family’s larger bills

Wisconsinites, and Americans in general, are becoming more worried about inflation as student loan repayments resume. There is a little good news in the new consumer price index … the inflation report. Price increases are slowing for two key consumer sectors, food and gas. Excluding food and gas, inflation is up three-point-seven percent over a year ago. Overall inflation is 4.1 percent, driven by higher inflation rates for housing and transportation services, air, buses, and trains.

Eau Claire Fire Department responded to 2507 S Hastings Way, the Maple Manor Motel, for a report of a structure fire. Initial information given by the 911 caller was smoke was billowing out of a room. Upon arrival, Engine 6 reported smoke coming from room 119. They deployed an attack like and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, containing it to room 119. Additional crews on scene assisted with evacuation and search of the adjacent rooms. The U.S. Department of Energy has selected the Heartland Hydrogen Hub, including multiple clean hydrogen projects from Xcel Energy, for award negotiations to receive up to $925 million. The award will serve as a catalyst for a future hydrogen ecosystem in the Upper Midwest.    The Heartland Hydrogen Hub (HH2H) is one of seven selected to receive funding. The hub includes Xcel Energy, Marathon Petroleum Corporation and TC Energy, in collaboration with the University of North Dakota’s Energy & Environmental Resource

ESPN says Giannis is still the best NBA player. The network yesterday put Giannis at the top of its annual NBA rankings for the second straight year. ESPN analyzed the top-100 players for the upcoming season, and said Giannis is the league’s premier player because of his Wilt Chamberlain-like scoring efficiency. ESPN insiders said the addition of Damian Lillard should only make Giannis, and the Bucks, better. Dame made the list at number-14.

A man who pulled a gun on his neighbor sent Ladysmith Schools into lockdown. Police say it happened about 3:30 yesterday afternoon. Ladysmith Police say 57-year-old Corwin Blackwell pointed a rifle at his neighbor while the neighbor was mowing his lawn. It happened not far from Ladysmith Elementary School, and while the kids were already gone, school officials ordered a lockdown for anyone who was left in the building. Police arrested Blackwell on first-degree recklessly endangering safety charges.
