The city of Eau Claire is asking for a little help ahead of this weekend’s heavy rains. Eau Claire’s streets department is asking people to clear the storm drains near their homes to help avoid flooding. Street manager Aaron Nicholson says leaves can build up and clog those drains. Nicholson says the city plans to run street sweepers throughout the day today, but he is asking people to pick up anything else that may block the drains including extra leaves

One of Eau Claire’s library managers says the homeless problem at the city’s public library has become something that they need a security guard to deal with. City council members heard from library leaders this week and part of that information included the recent uptick in problems with homeless people either falling asleep, causing disturbances and issues at the library. It’s not one-point-seven-billion dollars, but it is something. The Wisconsin Lottery says a 100-thousand-dollar ticket was sold for Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing in Tomah. Someone who shops at the Tomah Mini Mart bought that winning ticket. Meanwhile Lottery managers say a Kwik Trip in Grand Chute sold a 50-thousand-dollar winning ticket. Of course, it was someone in California who again bought the big winner, worth one-point-seven-six-billion-dollars.

A Madison man is sentenced for his involvement in the death of an eleven-year-old. Jerry Ward is sentenced to 15 years in prison with five years of extended supervision in the death of Anisa Scott. The victim was in a car going down East Washington when bullets were fired from a car Ward was sitting in and hit the child. The shooter missed their target and hit the eleven-year-old instead. A FedEx double-bottom CMV hauling corrosive hazardous materials started on fire while traveling westbound on I94 at mile marker 12. The fire likely started as a brake fire. Only the first trailersuffered damage, the driver was able to disconnect the power unit from the trailer. A Franklin woman accused of poisoning her friend with eye drops is set to go on trial at the end of the month.  Prosecutors have charged 37-year-old Jessy Kurczewski with first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony theft.  Investigators say she originally told police that her friend’s death in 2018 was an accident, or a drug overdose.   Police later said the story didn’t match up and an autopsy showed her friend died with a deadly amount of tetrahydrozoline, the

Lawmakers at the Wisconsin Capitol are expected to approve a handful of proposed laws that would deal with trans athletes, and gender affirming care.
