Unclaimed Property Returned to Wisconsinites

Almost ten million dollars in unclaimed property is returned to Wisconsinites. The Department of Revenue says the money includes funds from bank accounts, insurance policies, and other forgotten accounts. Voters Still Learning About Candidates

Most Wisconsin voters say they don’t know enough about state candidates, according to a new poll.  Marquette Law School poll numbers show 64-percent of respondents say they don’t know enough about incumbent Jill Underly, and 71-percent don’t know enough about her opponent, Brittney Kinser. The trend continues in the Supreme Court race, with most respondents saying they don’t know enough about Brad Schimel or Susan Crawford. The Supreme Court candidates will have a debate next Tuesday.

DATCAP Plans Public Meetings Ahead of 2025 Spongy Moth Treatment

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting public comment on its planned 2025 spongy moth aerial treatment plans. Treatment plan maps, spray information, fact sheets, and other resources can be found at smaerialspray.wi.gov. Standoff Leads to Arrest, Homicide Investigation

Police are investigating the death of a woman and classifying it as a homicide. Officials in Hudson offered the following details:   On Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 3:09 PM, Hudson Police Officers were dispatched to an address in the 1600 Block of Namekagon Street for the report of a welfare check. While officers were speaking with an adult male on the phone, the male made comments to lead the officer to believe someone was in danger within his residence.

Barn, Meat Shop Lost in Bloomer Fire

Fire officials are investigating a fire that took place in Bloomer off Highway 40 at a barn and meat shop. Crews were called out after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. When fire officials arrived, flames and dark black smoke was coming out of the windows of the barn and meat shop.  They spent most of the day putting out the fire. New Officer to Help Students Having a “Ruff” Day

The U-W-L police have a new member of their staff. A ten-week-old puppy will now serve as the emotional support dog on the force. The police have named the puppy “Officer Bear”. Officer Bear’s job will be to reduce stress and provide emotional support for students on campus. Officer Bear will go into training for a year before he can fully be an emotional support dog. Originally scheduled for Saturday August 30th, the game against Miami of Ohio has been moved up two days, to Thursday August 28th. The game will be a night game, but the exact time will be announced on a later date. This will be the seventh night opener over the past nine years.

WI Teen in Custody for Murdering his Mother

A Wisconsin teenager is in custody and accused of killing his mother.  Police in Caledonia say they responded to a home at about 10:30 p.m. yesterday to find a woman dead.  Investigators say the woman appears to have been stabbed.  Responders say a 15-year-old, the woman’s son, surrendered himself to police at the scene. He’s facing a homicide charge and is still in custody.
