Loyal Woman Still Missing

A 27-year-old woman is missing from Loyal, Wisconsin. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information that leads to finding Cassandra Ayon. They say she was last seen early Saturday morning. Her parents say she hasn’t been home, and she didn’t show up for work Monday morning. Cassandra drives a black 2015 Chevy Impala with license plate “AHZ-2509.” Those with information are asked to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 715-743-3157.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations Up in WI

Wisconsin COVID-19 hospitalizations are reaching record levels.  According to new data from the Wisconsin Hospital Association, hospitalizations dropped last week before climbing again to slightly above the same levels they were at during the height of the pandemic in April. Seven-hundred-eighty-two people are hospitalized across the state, an increase of nearly 120 patients over the weekend. WI Residents Could Qualify for Stimulus Payments

More than 111-thousand Wisconsin residents could still be eligible for a federal economic impact stimulus payment. The IRS says people who didn’t file a tax return in 2019, get an economic stimulus payment, or register for one already can still apply online. The deadline to file for a stimulus check is October 15th.

The Eau Claire Area School Board voted last night to make the scheduled snow days virtual learning days on the updated calendar. The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce is on the record as being against the city and county’s new public health ordinance. WI CARES Act Money Headed to Help

The latest round of Wisconsin’s coronavirus stimulus money is going to people in need. Governor Tony Evers yesterday said he is sending 50 million-dollars to programs designed to help low income families. That includes child care assistance, rental assistance, help paying for people’s power bills, and a million-dollars to help people sign-up for BadgerCare. The 50 million is the latest piece of Wisconsin’s two billion-dollars in CARES Act money.

The Sojourner House in Eau Claire is moving into its new home. The homeless shelter yesterday moved into the old IGA West Clairemont. Eventually, as many as 75 people will stay there. Sojourner House moved out of its temporary home at the Hobbs Ice center last month.

Voter Numbers up In WI

More people are registered to vote in Wisconsin this year. The state’s Election Commission on Monday said voter registration is up by about 80 thousand people. That means there are more than three-and-a-half million people registered to vote in November. But while the numbers are up overall, the Election Commission says voter registration is down in Milwaukee. The numbers show there are 20 thousand fewer registrations in Milwaukee than in 2016. AFT Offers Reward in Kenosha Arson Cases

Federal investigators hope five-thousand-dollars cash will lead them to some arson suspects in Kenosha. The ATF offered the reward yesterday. Agents also released several pictures of people who they think started the fires at the Kenosha Probation and Parole Building, the Car Source lot, the Dinosaur Museum, and a handful of other places during the city’s nights of violence at the end of August. The ATF also wants to know who set several City of Kenosha garbage trucks on fire.
