OSHA Investigates Deadly Workplace Accident

A Chippewa Falls man injured in a workplace accident is dead. Chippewa Falls police say the 54-year-old man died in the hospital after an accident at plastic fabricator Berry Global. Police say video from the plant shows it was an accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is now investigating.

Fire Danger High

Fire danger remains high in Eau Claire County today. Eau Claire County Emergency Management says burning is allowed, but only within guidelines from local fire departments. They say residents can burn certain things from 6 p.m. to midnight and any excess burning requires a permit from the local Department of Natural Resources Ranger station.

Legal Fight Continues Against Officer Mensah

The legal fight against Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah is not over. The attorney for Alvin Cole’s family yesterday said she plans to file a civil rights complaint against Mensah. Attorney Kimberley Motley says she wants to show that the Wauwatosa Police Department is racist, and that racism played a role in Mensah’s decision to shoot Cole back in February. Gavel Drops, Ballots Due

All ballots in Wisconsin are due by the end of the day on Election Day. A federal appeals court yesterday ruled that a Madison-based federal judge should not have said absentee ballots that come-in up to six days late would be counted. WI Reports Record Daily COVID-19 Cases as Death Rate Drops

On the same day that Wisconsin saw a record number of new positive coronavirus tests, the state saw its death rate drop and the number of people declared recovered increase as well. We will look at all of the numbers. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said there were just over 32 hundred positive tests. That’s the most in one day ever. Kidnapping Plot Has WI Ties

The plot to kidnap and kill Michigan’s governor has ties to Wisconsin. Federal prosecutors yesterday unveiled indictments against six men who planned to snatch Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and kill her. The six trained for their “mission” in Cambria, Wisconsin back in July. Cambria is in Columbia County, which is in the middle of the state. Arrests Happen in Wauwatosa

Alvin Cole’s mother is one of eleven people arrested for taking to the streets of Wauwatosa again last night. Protesters once again marched because prosecutors didn’t file charges against the Tosa officer who shot and killed Cole back in February. Cole had a gun and fired it before the officer shot him. Cole’s mom, Tracy, said her arm was broken during her arrest last night. Wauwatosa Police arrested the group for refusing to abide by the city’s 7 p.m. curfew.

Gov. Evers to Push Safety Orders

Wisconsin’s governor is using his weekly radio address to double down on his order that caps crowds in bars, restaurants, and stores in the state. Ballot Extension Ruling Set Aside

 The effort to extend the deadline for counting absentee ballots in Wisconsin could be headed for an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.  A federal appeals court today set aside an earlier ruling which would have allowed ballots that arrive as late as November 9th to be counted if they were postmarked on or before November 3rd.  Today’s reversal means absentee ballots in Wisconsin will have to arrive by election day in order to be counted.
