Vision 2025 Looks Ahead to Workforce

A group of faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are taking part in launching an initiative to create more jobs in senior living. Vision 2025 aims to create 25 senior care administration programs and provide one-thousand paid internships in the field across the country by 2025. The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities says November was a wild month for weather. In a Facebook post, they say last month will go down with several record highs and lows. The average temperature in Eau Claire was nearly 38 degrees, which is five degrees above normal, and precipitation was also above normal.

CVTC Looks to Future Plans

The Eau Claire Plan Commission is moving forward with a plan to improve programming at Chippewa Valley Technical College. Voters approved a 48-point-eight-million-dollar referendum to create the Transportation Education Center. They say the new facility will house auto mechanics, collision, diesel mechanics, truck driver training and other programs. A vote is set for next week. Construction could start on the new building next spring.

A lot of people are going to give out of the kindness of their hearts on this Giving Tuesday, but some people are going to take because of their greed. The state’s consumer protection director, Tricia Collins, yesterday said people need to research the charity or non-profit they plan to donate to before sending any money. Collins says some charities, particularly those online, are scams. She says GoFundMe accounts that pop-up on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram are the most suspect.

WI Sees Coronavirus Cases Dip

Wisconsin’s latest coronavirus count is as much a reflection of the dip in tests over the holiday weekend as anything else. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported just over 25 hundred new positives and six new deaths. The number of people in the hospital with the virus in Wisconsin is down to just over 18 hundred, with 395 in the ICU. EC Children’s Museum Plans for Future

Eau Claire’s Children’s Museum is closed, and will stay closed until at least 2022, but they will have a new building when they reopen. Museum managers yesterday said they have accepted an offer on a new building, at 220 S. Barstow Street. The Children’s Museum closed in July because of the coronavirus and low attendance. Managers at the time said they would be closed indefinitely, but now say they plan to reopen.

UWEC Scales Back, Preps for Finals

There will be less at the library at UW-Eau Claire for students looking to study ahead of finals at the school. The university yesterday said it is scaling-back at the McIntyre Library. The changes include closing popular study rooms and computer labs, limiting hours, and canceling the popular emotional support dog hours. Library director Jill Markgraf says they are doing what they can to be as safe as possible during the coronavirus outbreak.
