Marshfield Pursuit Ends in Arrest

A pursuit in Marshfield ended in the arrest of a Fitchburg man. It was Tuesday December 8th a bit before 9:30 when the Spencer police department became involved in a pursuit of a vehicle that was reported stolen from the city of Marshfield. Spencer Police department pursued the vehicle south from their city on STH 13 into the city of Marshfield. Once in the City of Marshfield, Marshfield officers took over the pursuit. Hobbs Ice Arena to Remain Closed During Repairs

Hobbs Ice Arena will be closed for longer than expected. The city recently announced that Hobbs is currently undergoing necessary, unforeseen repairs on the O’Brien Rink’s HVAC unit and Akervik Rink’s dehumidification unit. EC City Co. Health Warns of COVID-19 Exposure

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is warning the public of a potential COVID-19 exposure. On Facebook, the department says it’s possible anyone at the VFW on Starr Avenue last Thursday between 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. could have been exposed. They say anyone who could have been exposed should contact a healthcare provider to get a COVID-19 test and self-monitor for symptoms.

Border Battle Bounces Off the Gridiron

The mayor in Hudson, Wisconsin is considering a curfew to keep people from Minnesota from flooding into the bars and restaurants in his town. Parking Discussion in Overdrive

One of the proposed solutions to Eau Claire’s parking problems is more regulation. The city is studying what to do about parking downtown and by Randall Park. One of the suggestions is ‘more enforcement,’ which means more tickets. The study also suggests hiring a full time city parking administrator, though there’s no word just how much that will cost.

EC Schools Return to Hybrid Model

It’s back to in-person classes for some kids in Eau Claire’s public schools. Superintendent Michael Johnson last night said kids will return to their hybrid schedule on Thursday. Eau Claire schools have been online-only since Thanksgiving. It will be a short return to the classroom, however. Eau Claire schools are set to go on Christmas break on December 23rd.

Coronavirus Hospitalizations Dip in State

Wisconsin’s latest coronavirus snapshot shows fewer people are in the hospital with the virus in the state. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said just over 15-hundred people are in the hospital with the virus. Of them, 326 are in the ICU. Those numbers are much higher than in the summer but are down by hundreds from Wisconsin’s peak in early November. DHS says it’s too soon to tell if there will be a post-Thanksgiving spike in hospitalizations. CLICK HERE

Report Shows WI Budget Shortfall

Wisconsin’s proposed state spending could outpace the state’s tax dollars by about two billion-dollars according to a new report. The Wisconsin Policy Forum yesterday said Wisconsin will be at least 373 million-dollars short in the next state budget. The group also says there are about a billion-dollars in new Medicaid costs that are ‘unavoidable,’ as well as requests to spend more on schools, the UW System, and state employees.
