Trees for Troops Lights Up Holidays

The holidays are a bit brighter for some military families at Fort McCoy. The group Trees for Troops handed out Christmas trees at the fort over the weekend. The trees are donated, and free. Fort McCoy is one of nearly 80 bases in the U.S. to get some trees this year.

Badgers Back to Bunyan Battle

The Badgers will play for Paul Bunyan’s Axe after all. The Big Ten yesterday rescheduled the Wisconsin-Minnesota game. The two teams were supposed to play back over the Thanksgiving weekend, but the game was canceled because of a coronavirus outbreak on the Minnesota team. The new Axe game is scheduled for this Saturday at 3 p.m.

Federal Judge Dismisses Lawsuit

A federal judge dismisses a lawsuit filed by President Trump’s legal team.  The suit contested the handling of the November 3rd election process in Wisconsin.  Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Brett Ludwig found that “the Rule of Law” has been followed in Wisconsin’s handling of the popular vote.  In his decision to dismiss, Judge Ludwig said Trump’s challenge of Wisconsin’s election administration “could have been raised before the vote occurred.”  On Monday morning Wisconsin’s Supreme Court is expected to rule on a similar Trump election

COVID-19 Vaccines Starting to Ship

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine starts shipping today.  Yesterday the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said initially the vaccine will be shipped via FedEx in packages with a GPS transmitter and temperature sensor. Trucks carrying coronavirus vaccine are leaving the Pfizer manufacturing plant.  NBC News’ Allison Barber says it’s unclear where the trucks will go first. Several UPS and FedEx 18 wheelers rolled out of the company’s facility near Kalamazoo, Michigan this morning as nationwide distribution of the vaccine begins.

Gov. Evers Welcomes Holiday Viewing

Members of the public are invited to check out the holiday lights and other adornments at the Governor’s residence.  Yesterday Governor Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers extended the invitation to ride or walk by to view the decorations.  They say the holiday array is a celebration of hope and is intended to honor service members as a Tribute To Our Troops. Coronavirus Pandemic Continues Worldwide; Vaccine Moves Forward

The coronavirus pandemic is hitting a worldwide milestone.  The database at Johns Hopkins University shows the global case count has surpassed 70-million.  The worldwide death toll now stands at over one-point-five-nine million.  The U.S. leads in both those categories as new infections have surged around the country for weeks.  Only 14 countries have more than one-million total cases.  The number of people fighting the coronavirus in the hospital is setting a new high once again.  Matt Mattenson has more: On

Southern WI Planning for Snow

 A winter weather advisory is in effect for several southern Wisconsin communities including Madison. The National Weather Service says the advisory is in effect through 6:00-p.m. this evening.  The counties affected are Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Green, Rock, Dane, Jefferson, Crawford and Dodge.  The advisory says roads will be slushy and slick and visibility will be limited. As many as seven inches of snow are expected in communities along Highway 151 including Madison.
