OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting.  The sheriff’s office says the shooting happened near Highway 27 in Leon Tuesday night.  No other details have been released.

MAN HEADED TO PRISON FOR MURDEROUS PLOT

A man accused of plotting to rape and kill a woman in Trempealeau County is going to prison.  Chad Anderson pleaded guilty in the case in September and was sentenced Monday to two years in prison followed by a year of extended supervision.  Anderson and Ryan Gunderson planned to kill the woman last October but their plan was stopped when Gunderson was shot by the Strum police chief.

CLARK CO. MAN FACING ANIMAL ABUSE CHARGES

A Clark County man is accused of having dead and malnourished animals at his house.  A criminal complaint says the county sheriff’s office responded to Russell Sandley’s house back in July where deputies found malnourished dogs, and animal body parts on the ground.  Sandley was recently charged with seven counts relating to the case.  He’ll appear in court on December 11th. SEX OFFENDER TO BE RELEASED

A man convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Chippewa County in 1993 is being released from prison.  David Hager was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 1995 and deemed a sexually violent person in 2008.  Hager’s petition to be released was denied in 2014 but a judge recently approved a supervised release plan.  Reports say health experts have found he’s not likely to re-offend.

There were 33 crashes already today This includes an 8 vehicle crash at Bullis Farm Rd & Keystone Crossing. MAN GETS 10TH OWI

A 53 year old man was arrested for a 10th OWI. Jon Eric Miner, from Tomah, was stalled on the road about 6:00 on Tuesday when a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to that report on Interstate 94.  Miner showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests, showed that Mr. Minor was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with this being his 10th offense. STABBING LEADS TO CHARGES IN BARRON CO.

Prosecutors in Barron County are moving ahead with charges against an 18-year-old who they say stabbed a teen and his father last week. The D.A.’s office yesterday filed charges against Emmanuel Torres for the fight in Anderson Park last Thursday. Police say Torres got into a fight with another teen, and ended-up stabbing that teen and his father. There’s no word on what started the fight.

EC SOUTH SIDE COULD SEE NEW APARTMENTS

There could be some new apartments going-in on Eau Claire’s south side. Developer Gunnar Hagen is working on plans to build 260 new apartments near I-94. He says the hope is to create a new apartment complex that draws people to that side of town. Hagen is still working with planners in Eau Claire. He says if everything goes well, he may be able to start work on the development next year.

LAWMAKERS LOOK TO CRACKDOWN ON DRUNK DRIVERS

Lawmakers in Madison are looking to get tougher on some drunk drivers in the state. The state Senate yesterday approved a plan to require anyone who kills someone in a drunk driving crash spend at least five years in prison. Senators also approved a mandatory minimum sentence for someone’s fifth or sixth OWI. Those drivers will now have to spend at least a year-and-a-half behind bars.

Governor Tony Evers says the Senate vote against his ag secretary is B.S. The governor was on the Senate floor for the vote not to confirm Brad Pfaff as the head of the DATCP. Republican senators made it clear for weeks that they would not confirm Pfaff, but the governor pushed for a vote anyway.
