Vaccine Eligibility Bumped Up

Governor Tony Evers says people with certain medical conditions will be able to get vaccinated earlier than first thought.  The governor today says people age 16 and older with certain medical conditions will be eligible for the vaccine beginning March 22nd.  It was originally thought that group would become eligible on March 29th.  Health department officials anticipate the vaccine will be available to the general public around May 1st.

Reward Offered in Case of Missing Girl

 A reward is being offered for the safe return of a missing Mazomanie girl.  Boys & Girls Club CEO Michael Johnson announced the five-thousand-dollar reward today.  Johnson says 15-year-old Tiah Meigs was seen leaving Wisconsin Heights High School in Mazomanie last Thursday and then getting into a car with an acquaintance at around 3:15 p.m.  She was also spotted in Madison later on Thursday.  Authorities asked anyone who knows the whereabouts of Tiah Meigs to contact the Dane County tip line or

 University of Wisconsin-Stout again has been named a Bike Friendly University. The bronze level designation, one of six in Wisconsin, came from the League of American Bicyclists,. UW-Stout first received the designation in 2016. Nine signs around campus recognize the achievement. The league recognizes universities, businesses and communities with platinum, gold, silver, or bronze designations. The city of Menomonie was designated a bronze level in 2014 and again in 2018. Applicants are graded on infrastructure, programs, education and support for bicyclists.

The New York City museum dedicated to the hit tv show “Friends” is returning this week.  Stacey Moscateli is with “The Friends Experience” and says you’ll feel like Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe are right there. Fast Action for Slow Movers

One Girl Scout’s concern for turtles is helping make some of Wisconsin’s roads safer for them. The state Department of Natural Resources says Girl Scout Ella Kreuziger raised enough money to pay for stenciling a turtle crossing on a highway in Waukesha County to alert drivers about crossing turtles. The D-N-R says residents have reported over three-thousand turtle crossings and they’re working with locals to make the roads safer for them.

One Wisconsin town is changing its name for St. Patrick’s Day. New London has been changing its name to New Dublin for the past 37 years. The city’s Shamrock Club says there’s really no reason for it, other than to boost the city’s morale.

Eau Claire Standoff Ends Peacefully

A brief police standoff on the Eau Claire’s south side ended with a man being taken to the hospital. Eau Claire Police responded to a call for help at a home on Trimble Street yesterday. Once there, officers had to talk the man out of his home and into surrendering. Officers say the man was in danger, but they are not elaborating.

Green Light for Area Projects

Eau Claire is looking to move ahead with its plans for additions and upgrades in our area. That includes a green light for the Sonnentag Center, the Dewey Street bridge, and Carson Park. The city’s Plan Commission last night signed-off on a new comprehensive plan. Many of the projects in the new plan are the same projects that have been on Eau Claire’s to-do list for years. The full city council will take-up the plan at its next meeting.
