A Beloit police officer who died from the coronavirus is getting another honor. Governor Tony Evers yesterday ordered flags across the state lowered to honor Officer Dan Daly. He died last week after a battle with the virus. Daly had been with the Beloit Police Department since 1994. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Dane County will not be ending its mask order at the end of the month after all. Public Health Madison and Dane County yesterday extended the county’s mask requirement until January 3rd. The death toll from Sunday’s massacre at the Waukesha Christmas Parade is now up to six. Eight-year-old Jackson Sparks died yesterday. He was hit during the parade. Sparks’ family says his 12-year-old brother Tucker was also hurt, he suffered a fractured skull. The eight-year-old is the youngest of the now six victims of the parade massacre. The tragedy in Waukesha has one Wisconsin lawmaker looking to change the states’ constitution to help keep some criminals in jail. State Representative Cindi Duchow says her constitutional amendment would remove the restrictions that judges currently face when setting bail. The constitution mandates that every suspect in Wisconsin is eligible for bail, and it stops judges from considering the dangerousness or violence of a defendant when setting that bail amount. Water bills in Eau Claire are likely going-up under the city’s new ‘simplified’ rate hike plan. The city council last night agreed to a plan that will make it easier to raise water rates. City Finance Director Jay Winzenz says there aren’t any plans to raise rates now, and no one is guessing just how much water bills may go-up. The hope from the city is to use small rate increases to keep-up with inflation.

Fall Creek school leaders want the mask mandate lawsuit they’re facing to be dismissed. Nearly a million people in Wisconsin have gotten their coronavirus booster. The state’s Department of Health Services reported its booster dose-count for the first time yesterday. DHS says more than 915 thousand people have gotten the extra dose of the Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson shot. After 13 years, the remains of a woman found in the Town of Ashford are identified.  The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department says today the body found in 2008 was that of Amy Marie Yeary of Rockford, Illinois who would have been 18 years old at that time.  Her remains were buried in 2011 but new tests developed in recent years were performed in 2018 and ultimately identified as Yeary’s.

Governor Tony Evers is encouraging everyone to support local businesses and ‘Shop Small Wisconsin’ Nov. 27-Dec. 31. Members of Gov. Condolences including from Pope Francis are pouring in for the victims of the Christmas parade crash in Waukesha on Sunday.  A telegram expressing the Pope’s support and prayers for the victims was sent to the Archbishop of Milwaukee Monsignor Jerome Listecki.  The Pontiff is praying for everyone’s spiritual strength which he say overcomes evil with good.
