Rittenhouse Defense Gets Judges Favor

A Kenosha County Circuit judge is giving Kyle Rittenhouse a small win.  Rittenhouse is accused of killing two men and wounding another at a protest following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Kenosha Police officer last summer.  The prosecution wanted to argue that Rittenhouse was affiliated with white nationalist groups and believed in the violent tactics of the Proud Boys.  But Judge Bruce Schroeder today said he didn’t see evidence that Rittenhouse knew members of the Proud Boys, but

WI Daily Coronavirus Cases Top 2500

The state Department of Health Services reports over 25-hundred cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.  The state is averaging 13 deaths a day over the past week with the positivity test rate at seven-point-four-percent.  Not quite 53-percent of all Wisconsinites have completed the COVID vaccine series. WI Gas Prices Dip

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is down slightly but still above three-dollars-a-gallon.  Triple-A says the cost of gas across the Badger State is three-dollars-and-two-cents a-gallon today while the national average is three-19.  Drivers are paying three-dollars-a-gallon in Milwaukee, two-99 in Madison and Janesville and two-85 in Fond du Lac.  The price at the pump is three-14 in St. Croix County, three-oh-seven in La Crosse and two-96 in Appleton and Oshkosh.

Chippewa Co. Health Officials Urge Vaccine, $100 Incentive Nears Expiration

Three days remain for Wisconsinites to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be eligible for a $100 reward through the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Rewards Program. Early Storms Knock Out Power

Hundreds of Xcel Energy customers in northwestern Wisconsin were left without power after early storms. Storms that came through this morning left about 600 customers without power in Boyceville, Downing, Glenwood and Glenwood City.  Another 200 are without power in Barron, Dallas, Hillsdale, and Prairie Farm.

Some Areas of WI Experiencing Drought

Drought conditions across Wisconsin are largely unchanged from last week.  The new National Drought Monitor map still shows drought and near-drought conditions across Northwestern and Southern parts of the state. Moderate drought eased a bit in Southern Wisconsin, giving way to more abnormally dry conditions. Walworth, Kenosha, and Racine counties in Southeast Wisconsin, and Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland and Iron counties in the north are still showing severe drought.

Hotels Future Up for Debate

The Regency motel in Eau Claire could soon be turned into apartments. The Eau Claire Plan Commission will hold a vote on Monday to possibly convert the motel into an apartment complex. The city says there have been many police calls for drug trafficking, drug us, domestic violence, and human trafficking at the hotel.

Judge Sentences Stender

The young man who was riding with Colten Treu when he ran down the Lake Hallie Girl Scouts back in 2018 is going to prison. A judge in Chippewa Falls yesterday sentenced 24-year-old John Stender Jr. to three years in prison. He pleaded no contest to charges of harboring or aiding a felon back in April.
