Condolences including from Pope Francis are pouring in for the victims of the Christmas parade crash in Waukesha on Sunday.  A telegram expressing the Pope’s support and prayers for the victims was sent to the Archbishop of Milwaukee Monsignor Jerome Listecki.  The Pontiff is praying for everyone’s spiritual strength which he say overcomes evil with good.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the number of deer harvested during the opening weekend of the gun deer hunt is about 14-percent lower then opening weekend last year.  The DNR says hunters bagged nearly 86-thousand deer this past weekend which is about 14-thousand fewer than in 2020.  There were about four-thousand fewer bucks registered on opening weekend this year.  The DNR says sales for all deer licenses are down about one-and-a-half-percent from last year.

A fire that raged through an apartment complex in Plover is under investigation.  Fire crews were called to the Porter Place Apartments overnight.  The fire gutted the building which is a total loss.  Authorities say 17 people in the eight-unit complex were evacuated and there were no injuries.

The 2021 Festival of Trees in Wausau is canceled.  Officials with Aspirus Health Foundation say they decided today to cancel the festival out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19.  The return to an in-person event is expected next year.  Meanwhile, Aspirus is holding an online auction and supply drive to support the Aspirus Family Health House that helps both patients and families in need of a place to stay during a medical crisis.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announces the retirement of Steve Ingham, administrator for the Division of Food and Recreational Safety. His last day will be December 16, 2021. “Throughout his tenure at DATCP, Steve understood that we serve as a resource to as well as a regulator of the industry,” said DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski. “Under his leadership, the division was able to educate and regulate, and staff understood that the industry shares our goals

The Chippewa Valley After Hours Rotary Club is conducting its sixth annual Thanksgiving Dinner Drive today to put a traditional Thanksgiving meal on the table of local families in need.
