Local Favorite Lost

The City of Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department announces the loss of Shadow, the gray fox, at the Wildwood Zoo. Shadow was nine years old and had lived at Wildwood since he was a few weeks old. Shadow was a favorite of visitors with his sweet, personable nature. He will be greatly missed. Halderson Trial to Resume

 It is back to court this week in the Chandler Halderson trial.  The judge sent the jury and the lawyers home last week after Halderson tested positive for the coronavirus.  Prosecutors are not quite done with their case against him.  They say he murdered, then butchered his parents last summer after his web of lies about having a job and attending college fell apart.  The jury will be back in the courtroom to hear the case starting tomorrow.

Ice Rescue in Green Bay

The latest ice rescue in Green Bay had crews pull two men off of the ice after their ATV’s went into the water.  It happened Saturday afternoon near Sugar Creek County Park.  Authorities say one man was hauling an ATV that had broken down when the ice cracked, and the ATV went into the water.  Another man arrived to try and help, but his ATV ended-up in the water as well.  The Door County Sheriff’s Office, the Coast Guard, and

WI December Tornado Count Climbs

Wisconsin’s tornado count from December is now up to nine.  Forecasters over the weekend confirmed one more tornado from the storm system that swept across the state back on December 15th.  The National Weather Service says the newest tornado touched down in Chippewa County in the Town of Lafayette, then traveled along the east side of Lake Wissota before ending in the Town of Anson.  It was an EF 0 tornado, and there was some minor damage.  No one was

Lawmakers Respond to Judges Ballot Drop Box Ruling

Democrats in Wisconsin are not happy that a judge has ruled ballot drop boxes cannot be used on Election Day this year.  The judge issued that ruling last week, saying Wisconsin law allows for just two ways to vote, in-person or through the mail.  On Friday Governor Tony Evers said the decision makes it harder for people in the state to cast a ballot.  The Democratic Party of Wisconsin says not allowing drop boxes is an “assault on Democracy.”

Hospitalizations Remain Up in WI

We’re waiting to see how Wisconsin’s coronavirus hospitalization count changed over the weekend.  The state’s Hospital Association says we ended last week with over 22-hundred people in the hospital with the virus.  That includes 485 people in intensive care.  Wisconsin set a record for coronavirus hospitalizations last week.  Before that Wisconsin’s hospitalization peak was back in November of 2020.

Badger Fans Need Proof of Covid Status for Game

Badger fans hoping to catch tomorrow’s game at Northwestern will need proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.  Northwestern yesterday said it is stepping-up its coronavirus protocols.  Wisconsin will play Northwestern tomorrow night in Evanston.  The university says anyone over 16 will need proof of vaccination and a photo ID, or a negative test to get into the gym for the game.
