Millions In Federal Funding Headed to Madison Metro

Madison will have six-point-four million federal dollars to help upgrade the sprawling Metro Transit maintenance facility on the Near East Side.  Senator Tammy Baldwin and Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced the grant award on Friday.  The money will help Metro finish a multi-phase project ahead of schedule.  The 300-thousand square-foot maintenance facility was built in the late 1970s and early ’80s and needs major upgrades and support systems for electric buses.

One Hat Out of The Ring For WI Governor’s Race

 A Madison businessman who was talked about as a possible Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor won’t be entering the race.  Eric Hovde announced today he won’t run for Wisconsin governor, but is considering running for U.S. Senate in 2024.  Hovde says he decided not to launch a campaign because of his father-in-law’s health issues.  There are currently three Republicans set to try to unseat Governor Tony Evers this year, former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Wisconsin State Representative Timothy Ramthun, and former Marine Kevin Nicholson.

Dance and Ukrainian Poetry Will Be Featured On Local Campus

Altoona Police Investigate Suspicions Death

On April 14, 2022, the Altoona Police Department was contacted by the Rockford, IL Police Department regarding a body that was located. The deceased was identified as an Altoona resident and the death was deemed suspicious. Investigators from the Altoona Police Department, Rockford Police Department, and Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation were led to a residence on St Andrews Drive in the City of Altoona which prompted a large police presence in the area. Brewers Find Home Plate at Home Opener

 The Brewers are now on a three-game winning streak after winning their home opener.  They beat the Cardinals five-to-one yesterday behind a strong outing by starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff.  He pitched five innings and gave up no runs on just three hits.  The Brewers remain at home for their second of four games against the Cardinals tonight at 7:10.

Search For Bearded Dragon Continues

Responders On Scene in Altoona, Questions Remain

Several police cars and at least one ambulance were all seen outside a home in the Andrews Drive area last night. Half Million Dollars Bond Set in Madison Shooting

It’s a half-million dollars bond for one of the suspects in a deadly November shooting in Madison. A judge yesterday set Justin Burage’s bond at 500 thousand-dollars, cash. He and Chabris Link are accused of gunning down a victim in November of last year on Madison’s northeast side.  Link is in jail in Illinois and is waiting to be brought back to Madison to face charges.

Recount Confirms District 11 Winner

Nathan Otto is still the winner of Eau Claire County’s District 11 race. Otto originally won the county board race by nine votes, a recount yesterday trimmed that to an eight-vote victory. Election managers say the recount found that a single voter in Altoona was mistakenly given a ballot for the race. The recount failed to find any other issues or problems.
