Madison police are warning of a phone scam involving a person claiming to be law enforcement. Police say the scammer recently called someone, claimed to be a federal agent, and told the victim to buy them thousands of dollars worth of gift cards. Police say the victim sent the scammer several gift cards over text message. Police say a similar scam has also been reported with a person claiming to be a Madison police officer.
