WI Mayor Behind Wheel Of New Plan For Drivers Education

Milwaukee’s mayor wants to offer universal Drivers’ Education in the city, and he wants insurance companies to pay for it.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson yesterday said his proposal to add free Drivers’ Ed classes at the city’s rec department would cost two million-dollars. Johnson wants State Farm, American Family Insurance, and Progressive to pick-up the costs. The mayor says the program could get licenses for as many as six thousand young drivers per-year. American Family says it’s interested in talking about the idea.
