Authorities say the balloon collided with a freight train last night in downtown Burlington, about 30 miles southwest of Milwaukee. Three adults were critically injured, and two of them were flown to Milwaukee area hospitals. No one is sure what caused the balloon to go down near the tracks. Police say the crash is under investigation.

Bellin Health and Gundersen Health yesterday said they are deep into discussions of a planned merger, and hope to have the details worked-out in the next few weeks. There is no word what the merger may mean for patients, the group’s hospitals, or employees. Bellin and Gundersen have facilities across the state. The two companies say they are waiting on the required regulatory review before finalizing the merger.
