Lawmakers Tackle Case Backlogs, Workers Rights

Wisconsin lawmakers introduce a pair of packages.

State Republican lawmakers want to eliminate the backlog of cases in the criminal justice system. It would establish a task force to respond to district attorneys’ requests for help and develop a new system to lower the wait in felony cases, which in Wisconsin, is a median wait time of nearly 220 days. A package of bills from state Democratic lawmakers focuses on worker’s rights, repealing the state’s Right-to-Work law, promoting family and medical leave, and letting local governments set a minimum wage.
